日本での生活を始めるにあたり、ウェールズ語の「ヒラエス」という言葉に込められた故郷への思いや、新しい土地で居場所を見つけるまでの心の旅を振り返ります。北九州での最初の印象や小倉での生活を通じて、ウェールズから遠く離れた地で新たな「家」を織り成し始めました。
As I began my life in Japan, I reflected on the Welsh word “hiraeth” and the longing it carries. My first impressions of Kitakyushu and my experiences in Kokura marked the start of weaving a new sense of home far from Wales.

I will be writing this in English and providing a translation into Japanese as I am just a beginner in the language but there is not a website like this that I vibe with in the English speaking world that I know of and I want to get in touch with a Japanese audience whilst I live here. I hope you do not mind me joining this space.
僕はカーディフ大学の3年生で、北九州大学での留学を行っています。日本語を速く学び、また、アイヌ語を学ぶために北海道を訪れることを希望しています！
I am a third year student from Cardiff University undertaking my year abroad at Kitakyushu University. I hope to learn the Japanese language quickly and also visit Hokkaido to study the Ainu language!

このブログは、僕の非論理的な思考を吐き出す場所であり、自分の考えを言葉にする練習をする場所でもあります。僕は留学生で、情熱を持っているため、旅行と文化に関する記事をたくさん投稿する予定ですが、クラスに関連することや、考えていることについても書くつもりです。
This blog is just a place to dump my nonsensical thoughts and practice putting my thoughts into words. As an exchange student with a passion I will be posting a lot about travel and culture but I will also be writing about things that are on my mind and things that relate to my classes as a way to prepare for essays.
これらすべてを、この国と文化への新参者としての経験に結びつけようと努力します。
I will try and link everything back to my experience as a newcomer to this country and culture.
